In this release, we have significantly improved the search experience by introducing a new query correction module that automatically corrects any misspelt query. We have also fixed some minor bugs as part of this release.

In this release, we have improved the search relevancy in CBD searches. We have improved the search experience by consolidating listings in multiple locations into a single most relevant listing for distance agnostic categories. We have also improved the search experience for remote australia by expanding search to a larger region based on their remoteness index.

In this release, we have improved the search experience by ordering the listings such that listings in the navigable adjacent suburbs appear higher than the one in non-navigable adjacent suburbs. Meanwhile, we have also boosted our search performance.

In this release, we made significant improvements in search quality by boosting listings with richer content and relevancy. We also improved our ability to define suburb and region boundaries thus resulting in better searches within suburbs and regions. We have improved our search relevancy by restricting results to only related categories. We had other minor imrovements to enhance the experience in searches within state. Last but not the least, we had some bug fixes that fixed search relevancy in complex searches.

Sensis Developer Centre (SDC) UPDATED

Sensis has rebranded and so have we! You may have noticed some big changes to the design of the SDC, we figured it was a perfect opportunity to freshen things up... we hope you like it :)

Moving forward, we'll continue to make a few tweaks and we hope to be adding a long overdue SDC site search feature int he coming weeks as well.

Yay! Its official. We have finally moved out of Open Beta (don't worry, we'll continue to support calls to the existing OB API in parallel to a v1 API so there's no need to do anything until we move to v2 down the track).

In this release, we have made some significant changes to improve the search quality. We have used natural language processing mechanisms for identifying concepts to improve the search relevancy. We have further bolstered the performance of Auto Suggest endpoints. Additional business metadata acquired from internal and external sources have now been applied to all search queries, delivering a greater range of search results for brands and products across all headings. Latitude-Longitude queries now bring mobile businesses as prominently as the others in the search results, thus improving the search relevancy and quality.

In this release, We have made significant changes to our search algorithm, which has resulted in significant improvement in search quality in some of the headings. We have also added in some minor enchancements such as displaying all franchisee listings within a suburb or postcode thus allowing users to select a franchisee of their choice.

This Iteration contains the addition of /oneSearch API Explorer, we have improved how some synonyms and colloquially known suburbs get picked up within /search, including some improved relevancy on certain category based searches, and a minor modification to how postcode locations expand.

In this release the sapi team has fixed bugs in relation to our most recent endpoint '/oneSearch'. This consists of picking up on concept recognition for type search, business names vs location names, and modifying some location radius attributes.

Recently the Sapi team has produced a new endpoint for our developer community called '/oneSearch' and fixed up some minor bugs within normal search. The bugs fixed relate to categorisation and relevancy within name searches.

So, what’s coming next?

Take a look at the following functionality that will be coming over the next few months:

  • ongoing relevance enhancements
  • better aggregation / removal of duplicate listings
  • inclusion of detail around areas that different businesses service (rather than simply where they are located). There’s some real application opportunities here, particularly around mobile-businesses.
  • a mechanism to assist users in refining their searches
  • service monitoring dashboard
  • capacity improvements
  • inclusion of ratings and reviews data
  • inclusion of POI data
  • enhancements to developer tools
  • cleaner JSON response

In this release we've added a feature called address search which allows you to search for a business at a given address. There have also been a number of minor changes and bug fixes.

Through our new release you are now able to search for businesses around a nominated (or calculated) latitude / longitude. Great functionality for all those developing mobile applications!

There’s also a number of bug fixes & search relevancy improvements – an ongoing focus for us with every new iteration.

We are excited to announce that we are opening our doors to anyone who is interested in using our API. As part of moving out of the closed beta (invite only) phase of our journey, we have deployed a number of new features that we think will enhance the apps you can build and deploy.

These features include the ability to filter your results by a particular business category or to restrict your search result set to a specific geographical area. You will also notice we now have separate Test and Production services so we can better support your initiatives. All the information you need to deliver our reporting needs is now available and documented for you.

When you get a moment why not check out our new API Explorer, where you can interrogate our data and review its structure without having to go to the trouble of building an application.

Closed Beta Release 2

April 13, 2011

This is our first release since we took the covers off SAPI last month, our objective for this release was to improve the quality of search results returned as well as fixing up some of bugs we’ve come across since launch. Based on feedback from our Sensis Developer Centre we have also made some changes to the structure of our JSON response object, you can read about the new structure in our documentation (see Listing Schema).
